Aidan

The path leading to Lymrah’s house is long and winding, giving me time to think. I have known Lymrah for years, and our friendship has weathered many storms. Now, I need his counsel, his wisdom, and his support in a matter that will impact both our families and the unified tribes.

Dominique's words awakened a sense of urgency for reflection in me. I had not thought about a peace treaty with Darkhowl having been consumed with thoughts of revenge. Now, it is impressed upon my mind with an acute clarity.

Dominique is right to accept the treaty with Darkhowl.

Just before Amaya disappeared that day before Elowyn and me, she warned us, her eyes shaping into dark coals and commanding.

"For you to drink of this chalice, you must bear no malice, hatred or thoughts of conflicts. It is a drink of purity and if these thoughts consume you to go to war with each other, terrible things will befall Eldoria."

I shudder now in recollection feeling goosebumps rise on my arms even with the harsh rays of the sun heating up the forest. We have not had any reason to be in conflict with any tribe for the last twenty years until now.

Can we turn this situation into an opportunity to foster peace like Dominique suggested?

My steps become hurried toward Lymrah with an urgency that now pushes me forward to make a decision.

Lymrah's home, a modest yet welcoming dwelling, is nestled amidst the ancient trees. The scent of the forest mingles with the warm aroma of a hearth fire, and I can hear the soft strains of a lute being played from within.

As I enter, Lymrah looks up from his strumming, his eyes lighting up in delight. "Aidan, my friend!" he exclaims, setting aside the instrument. "You are always welcome. What brings you here today?"

I greet him with a warm smile, feeling a sense of camaraderie forged over our countless shared experiences. "I come with a matter of great importance, Lymrah," I begin, my tone serious.

Lymrah's brows furrow with concern as he gestures for me to take a seat by the hearth. "Speak, Aidan. You know you can always count on me to listen."

I take a deep breath, choosing my words carefully. "It concerns the unity of our tribes, Lymrah. I've been considering Dominique’s proposal - the one to secure the treaty of lasting peace between the unified tribes of Silverclaw, Moonshadow and…" I suck in breath sharply, releasing it softly as I pierce Lymrah with an intense look. "Darkhowl."

His eyes flare briefly and I see the surprise in them but to his credit, he doesn't utter a word. Lymrah leans forward, his eyes fixed on mine with unwavering attention. "Go on."

“After speaking with Elowyn, and discussing the marriage between Dominique and one of our maidens,” I begin cautiously optimistic, “we would like to recommend a union with your daughter, Willow, as a means to bridge the peace between our tribes.”

My words hang in the air, and I watch as a range of emotions
